From the 14th - 15th of March 2016, Mark Bates, a film studies student at De Montfort University Leicester submitted a shocking video for his 'final project'. The film showed him brutally murdering his fellow classmates, imitating a style which is commonly seen in modern horror films.  He submitted a copy of the film to his lecturer and uploaded it to YouTube before taking his own life.

 

Due to the nature of the crime there has been interest from the press and public, therefore Leicestershire Police have created this website with the aim of providing fast information about the crime to all parties who are interested. Mark's family and the family of the victims wish to remain anonymous.  Please respect their wishes and any questions you have about the case please contact Leicestershire Police directly.
