If ever there was a student that Mark hated the most, that student would be John Bogdanovic.  Slightly older than the rest of the class and cock sure of himself, John was a bright and motivated student with a lot of potential.  He was Mark's best friend during the first and second year of the film studies course and they worked on several projects together.  Their relationship turned sour in the spring of 2016 when Mark discovered that John had been talking about him behind his back.  Mark was furious with John when he found out that John was responsible for creating the nickname 'Freaky Mark'.

Martin Falkirk was a enthusiastic student and was a committed friend.  He spent a lot of his time researching films and always tried his best to fit in.  Mark targeted him because of his willingness to go along with the crowd and Martin quite often joined in on the bullying of Mark.  Martin also formed a close friendship with John which probably did not help matters.

According to his classmates, Graeme Marsh-Jackson was a ladies' man.  He was not a committed student and quite often spent his time trawling the bars of Leicester in search of one night stands. Mark's idea for the horror film would have appealed to Graeme because he had failed several modules on the film course and was desperate to get a good grade.

Tyronne Prescott was the son of a well-known British politicion.  Tyroone was failing the film studies course; however, he still would have passed due to his father's sphere of influence.  Mark decided that Tyronne would make a good victim simply due to his high status in society. Killing the son of a famous politician would generate more interest in the case.
